Amanda Goss, MA (Couns.) MBACP
I am a Psychotherapist and Counsellor trained to Masters level. I work as a High Intensity Counsellor for Mind and I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their ethical framework and code of practice. I am also a qualified Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapist, Focusing Trainer and member of the Focusing Institute in New York. I hold an enhanced CRB and regularly undertake training to keep up to date with developments within psychotherapy. I was a Trainee Trainer on the 2011 Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling at the University of East Anglia.
I work with adults on a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, divorce and separation, abuse, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, self-harm, loneliness, suicidal feelings, separation anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, anger management, addiction, work issues, and lack of motivation.
I work alongside companies in London working with Nurses, Kings Lynn Borough Council, The Benjamin Foundation, and Wisbech Grammar School as well as taking referrals from other local high schools and doctors surgeries.
After going through several difficult issues of my own I sought the help of a therapist. It was a life-changing experience which has enabled me to lead a happier and more fulfilled life. I was very nervous about seeking counselling and lucky to find an excellent counsellor with whom I felt comfortable. I do understand how important it is to find a therapist with whom you feel completely at ease, so feel free to call me for an informal chat.
Our time together will be spent exploring the issues that you bring in a safe and supporting environment. Together we will work on these issues to find a way for you to deal with what is going on for you, and help you to resolve it so that you can feel happier and more at ease. I understand that it can be very difficult to talk about certain concerns and I will try to help you feel as comfortable with this as possible.
I also offer Focusing Training and one-to-one Focusing sessions. Focusing is a safe way of being with an experience, even one which is disturbing. It is an ability that most of us have and can develop; a way of listening to our subtle inner feelings. It is a way of accessing what we know but are maybe not aware of – our own kind of truth. When we do this, what we find is often new, surprising, fresh and extremely satisfying – even being with difficult feelings in a Focusing way can feel good. Focusing can provide us with – often unexpected – solutions to difficulties. It can be learned and used in everyday life, helping us to feel calmer, happier, and generally more at peace.
I charge £50 per 50 minute counselling session. For one-to-one Focusing sessions or Focusing Training, the rate is £45 per hour. I work from my own counselling room in St Ann’s House, St Ann’s Street, Kings Lynn.
